Our 1-year programme is designed to give our learners an intensive focus on Biblical interpretation, systematic theology, counseling, ministry practicums and more. It will give aspiring students of the Word a “foundation” in Biblical and theological studies in order for them to be thoroughly equipped for effective service in their local ministries.

Brett and his wife, Brittni, have been serving on the Garden Route since 2019. In that time, God has continued to burden them for the training of the next generation of Christian leaders in South Africa. The Foundations Theological Institute was started for this purpose. Brett holds a master’s degree from Bob Jones University (USA) and is currently working on an MTh in Theology from South African Theological Seminary.
George and his wife, Amy, have been ministering in Knysna since 2017, with a particular focus on theological education, church planting, and community upliftment. George holds two master’s degrees from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary (USA), and a PhD in Systematic Theology from the University of Toronto (Canada). His passion is to equip and strengthen gospel ministers to reach their world for Jesus Christ.
Through his 9 1/2 years of teaching ESL in Asia, the Lord revealed a joy and passion for working with university-age young people. Alex and his wife, Bethany, believe these years were a training ground to serve those who will enroll at FTI. Alex holds an Master of Divinity degree from Calvary Seminary in Landsdale (USA). He is humbled and thrilled by the opportunity to serve at FTI and cannot wait to see what God has in store!
We desire that our academic programme be rigorous as to prepare our learners for a lifetime of decision-making and critical-thinking. We seek to push our learners to steward the gifts that God has given them. Our academic programme is challenging in order that we may produce excellent and committed servants of Christ for the Church.
We are intentional about discipling our learners spiritually in addition to teaching them academically. We structure our programme in a way that encourages our learners to apply what they are learning in their lives. Each of our learners are a part of a discipleship group throughout their time with us. Our learners are also a part of one of the local congregations in our town.
We encourage the application of our learner’s knowledge through an internship programme. Each learner will be interning in one of the local congregations in various ministries. These ministries may include leading a small group, helping with audio/visual, counseling, teaching, and property maintenance. The local church is not simply a topic at FTI, it is the training ground.
