Building a Foundation for Life and Ministry

Foundations Theological Institute exists to equip the next generation of South African Christian leaders for life and ministry in the local church.

Equipped for Service. Trained to Serve.

The Foundations Theological Institute exists to train the next generation of South African Christian leaders for life and ministry in the local church. It is our burden that the coming generation of South African young people are thoroughly educated in the Scriptures and equipped for effective ministry service. It is our aim to come alongside local churches in South Africa and help facilitate these goals in the lives of the next generation. The Foundations Theological Institute is located in the growing city of George in the Western Cape province. Our desire is that God will use this institute to train leaders for ministry along the Garden Route, throughout South Africa, and to the nations!

Our Commitments

We are committed to the message of the Gospel which proclaims that Christ Jesus is the only way of salvation. It is the desire of the Foundations Theological Institute that our learners grow in their knowledge and love for the Gospel and that this Gospel would compel them to pursue a life of faithful service to Christ.

We are committed to the centrality of the Scriptures. The Scriptures are the revelation of God to man. It is the Scriptures that are central to one’s study at the Foundations Theological Institute. Our desire is that every one of our learners would know the Scriptures thoroughly, interpret them consistently, and teach them correctly.

Devoted to the Great Commission

We are committed to the mission that Christ gave to His followers when He ascended. We train our learners for the purpose of going to the nations. The Foundations Theological Institute exists to train laborers for the Gospel both here in South Africa and to the nations who have yet to hear the name of Christ.

Church Planting to Theological Education

There is a growing network of Gospel preaching churches that God is raising up along the Garden Route of South Africa. These churches vary from new church plants all the way to well established congregations. God has burdened individuals from this network of congregations to establish an institution where young people may be trained in the Scriptures in order to receive a foundation of Biblical understanding. The equipping of young people for life and ministry in the local church is the mission of the Foundations Theological Institute.

“That missions are the chief end of the Church. That the chief end of the ministry is to guide the Church in this work, and fit her for it. That the chief end of the preaching in a congregation ought to be to train it to take its part in helping the Church to fulfil her destiny. And that the chief end of every minister in this connection ought to be to seek grace to fit himself thoroughly for this work..”
